About CM

Community Mobilization Against Substance Abuse and Violence (CMASAV) was established in 1989 by the Washington State Legislature to address the issues of substance abuse and violence through organized and collaborative efforts of entire communities.

CMASAV provides funding for community mobilization and prevention programming in almost all counties in Washington State each biennium. Funding comes from the state Violence Reduction and Drug Enforcement (VRDE) account and federal Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities grant.

Contractors advise on the direction of CMASAV by sitting on the Community Mobilization Advisory Committee (CMAC) and actively participating in subcommittees, including Evaluation, Annual Meeting, Legislative, and Strategic Planning subcommittees for 2007-2008.
